St Mirren v Hamilton postponed as fresh Covid chaos leaves Jim Goodwin with just 11 players

Hamilton's visit to St Mirren tomorrow has been postponed after another week of Covid woes in Paisley.

The Buddies were last week forced to call-off their clash with Motherwell at the last minutes after a series of positive tests.

The Saints yesterday confirmed even more positives with the numbers in self-isolation rising.

The SPFL state that St Mirren reported they had only been left with 11 fit and registered players for Accies visit tomorrow.

They have now revealed the game has been axed with the Buddies facing a second investigation.

The governing body are currently already looking into the axed clash with The Steelmen.

The game has been touted as a crucial game for both sides who have struggled at the start of the season and find themselves battling at the foot of the Scottish Premiership table.

An SPFL statement said: "Tomorrow’s Scottish Premiership match between St Mirren and Hamilton Academical has been postponed after St Mirren informed the SPFL that they could not fulfil the fixture.

"St Mirren have informed the SPFL that, due to a number of positive tests for Covid-19 amongst their playing squad and coaching staff, and a number of other players who are isolating, they have only eleven registered fit players available for tomorrow’s game against Hamilton Academical – and that, as a result, St Mirren are unable to fulfil tomorrow’s fixture.

"As a result, and in line with standard procedure, the SPFL have postponed the fixture pending the ongoing investigation into the events at St Mirren."
