St Mirren thank NHS workers as country comes together to applaud health workers

St Mirren have posted a touching video thanks NHS workers during the coronavirus outbreak.

At 8pm this evening people across Britain applauded and played music to thank the health service, which will come under severe strain due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

And Scottish Premiership side St Mirren paid a tribute of their own by posting a video where players and others thanked " NHS angels" for the work they've been doing.

It's the latest example of football clubs offering their support during the public health crisis.

Celtic have donated over £100,000 from their charitable foundation while Rangers are offering use of the car park at Ibrox and have made donations to hospitals.

Kilmarnock and Hibs donated unused food to people in need, while Partick Thistle have pledged to do "everything they can to keep fans connected".

Friday will mark two weeks since Scottish football was suspended indefinitely in the face of the coronavirus outbreak.
