St Mirren snap up Slovakian goalkeeping prospect Peter Urminsky

St Mirren have completed the signing of Slovakian goalkeeping talent Peter Urminsky.

The 20-year-old, who was recently on loan at AS Trenčín from parent club FC Spartak Trnava, has been training at Ralston for the last two weeks in a bid to seal a deal with the Buddies.

And after impressing in a youth game against Dundee United, reports in the media in Slovakia have confirmed the prospect has signed on the dotted line for the Saints.

With current number one Vaclav Hladky expected to leave the club when his contract expires in the summer, gaffer Jim Goodwin previously spoke of his desire to bring in another keeper to develop at the Simple Digital Arena.

He previously told Express Sport: “He's one that's not coming in to take the place of Vaclav Hladky or Dean Lyness. He's very much a young boy looking for an opportunity.

"He's got fantastic attributes. He's around 6 foot 4 and Jamie Langfield likes the look of him. Technically he's got a lot to do and a lot to learn. He's a long way off playing for our first team.

"As a club we've got to be looking at potential projects as well. If there are young guys like that that we can spend time trying to develop then we're in a position to do that."

Urminsky told Sport.sk: "I look forward to working with St. Mirren."
