St Mirren skipper Joe Shaughnessy talks up squad character ahead of Livingston clash

Skipper Joe Shaughnessy believes St Mirren fans have a lot to look forward to when they return from the international break.

After a strong unbeaten run, the Buddies were winless in four before the latest temporary shutdown of the domestic game.

Shaughnessy feels his side are still performing well and is confident they will bounce back to winning ways in the hectic upcoming winter schedule, starting with their home clash against Livingston this weekend.

“I think it’s the character of the squad,” Shaughnessy told stmirren.com.

“You see lads coming in that haven’t played a lot of football and they do a really good job for us.

“It’s just a strength to the squad and that is what the success we’ve had so far is down to.

“I think we know what we want to do when we get the ball, how we want to play and get on the ball.

“It is just missing the few goals in the last few games we haven’t scored.

“We just need to improve that side of the game and work the opposition goalkeepers a little more, but other than that I think we are coming into a good bit of form and playing pretty well.

“We maybe haven’t got the results we really wanted recently, but we have been playing some good stuff so I do think there is a lot to look forward to.”
