St Mirren sign Kilmarnock's Alan Power as Jim Goodwin bolsters midfield

Jim Goodwin has added some steel to his St Mirren side after bringing in experienced midfielder Alan Power from Kilmarnock.

The Buddies boss has snapped up Power on a one-year deal after agreeing a nominal fee with the relegated Ayrshire side.

Power, 33, has been a key player for Killie since he arrived from Lincoln City in 2017, making more than 140 appearances in total in his four years at Rugby Park.

The ex-Nottingham Forest youth player was keen to stay in the top flight following Kilmarnock's relegation, and he will join up with former teammate Greg Kiltie who arrived in Paisley on a free transfer earlier this month.

He will link up with fellow Irishmen Jamie McGrath, Conor McCarthy and Joe Shaughnessy at the SMISA Stadium, while midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes is still yet to sign a new contract with the Paisley side, with Dundee United currently courting the talented 22-year-old.

Goodwin has also landed Charles Dunne, Curtis Main and Scott Tanser on free transfers this summer as the Buddies boss looks to get his business done early ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season starting next month.
