St Mirren reveal third signing of the transfer window as Norwich City defender signs on loan

St Mirren have announced their third signing in two days with Norwich City talent Akin Famewo joining on a six-month loan.

The 21-year-old centre half, who can also play at left back and was recently captain of the Canaries under-23 side, extended his contract with the English Premier League side in November.

And now he has become Jim Goodwin's third signing of the winter transfer window after following Conor McCarthy and Jamie McGrath through the doors at Ralston.

The Buddies were left hamstrung towards the end of the first half of the season after key defenders Kirk Broadfoot, Gary MacKenzie and Paul McGinn all faced spells on the sidelines.

And Goodwin is hoping he can avoid having to push players into unfamiliar positions in defence after bringing in two centre backs already this transfer window.

Famewo signed for Norwich in January 2019 from Luton Town, having impressed while on loan at Grimsby Town.

He has yet to play for the senior side, but has been leading the club's under-23's this season as skipper.
