St Mirren Premiership fixtures confirmed as Hearts return to Paisley after opening day trip to Dundee

The Buddies have learned who their first opponents will be when they begin their Scottish Premiership 2021-22 campaign next month.

Jim Goodwin 's side will travel to Dens Park to take on newly-promoted Dundee on Saturday, July 31 in their opening fixture.

They will then welcome Championship winners Hearts to the SMISA Stadium the following weekend, facing the Jambos on Saturday, August 7.

That will be the first meeting of the two clubs since St Mirren beat the Edinburgh side 1-0 in a crucial match in Paisley in what turned out to be the final game of the abridged 2019-20 campaign, that was halted by coronavirus.

A potentially tricky away trip to Celtic Park to face new manager Ange Postecoglou's Hoops for the first time follows on Saturday, August 21, before two home clashes against St Johnstone (Saturday, August 28) and Dundee United (Saturday, September 11).

The Saints face a difficult festive period this season, playing both sides of the Old Firm either side of Christmas, as well as facing Rangers at the SMISA Stadium in their final game before the split on Saturday, April 9.

Before the league campaign starts, the Buddies are back in League Cup action early next month.

They face Dumbarton away in their first fixture on Saturday, July 11, in a group that also contains Partick Thistle, Dunfermline Athletic and Stenhousemuir.
