St Mirren pre-season fixture confirmed as Buddies head to Belfast to take on Linfield

St Mirren will travel to Northern Ireland in the summer after their first pre-season fixture was confirmed against Linfield.

The Buddies will travel to Belfast to take on the established NIFL Premiership side on Saturday, July 1.

The match will serve as Linfield's testimonial game for their long-serving star Niall Quinn, with David Healy's men also using it to help prepare for their Europa Conference League first round, first leg tie.

Stephen Robinson will be hoping his side are able to use the game for the same reason, with the Saints still hoping to seal European qualification themselves with two games left to go this season.

St Mirren travelled to Robinson's native Northern Ireland last summer, thumping Crusaders 3-0 last June before beating Linfield 2-1 a few days later.

A Linfield spokesperson said: "Linfield FC is delighted to confirm that Scottish Premiership top six side St. Mirren will be the welcome visitors to Windsor Park for the eagerly anticipated Niall Quinn Testimonial game on Saturday July 1. Kick off will be at 1pm.

"Match tickets will cost £10 for adults and £5 for concession. It is expected that match tickets for the South Stand for this game will go on sale from the official club website in early June and further details will be provided on offiicial Linfield media closer to the release date.

"This attractive game will bring the curtain down on an eventful and highly successful testimonial season for popular Niall who graduated from the Linfield Academy into the first-team squad in March 2012.

"Niall went on to make 364 competitive first-team appearances and won 5 Premiership, 2 Irish Cup, one League Cup and 2 County Antrim Shield winners' medals with Linfield.

"With Linfield having recently confirmed that Niall will be leaving the club at the end of the 2022-23 season, this game will provide the ideal opportunity for the club's supporters to show appreciation to Niall for his 11 years of loyal and excellent service at Windsor Park."

As well as the clash with Linfield, the Buddies will also face Glentoran on Wednesday, June 28 at Blanchflower Stadium as part of Glentoran player Marcus Kane's testimonial.

Match tickets for the two games will be priced each at £10 for adults and £5 for kids/concessions. Full details on how to purchase are set to be announced in due course.
