St Mirren offer 'robust' defence as club face long wait for SPFL disciplinary hearing result

St Mirren insist they have defended their position “robustly” after the SPFL concluded a two-day disciplinary hearing yesterday.

But the Paisley club now face an anxious wait until the end of the month to find out if they will face punishment for any potential Covid-19 breaches.

The hearing was held after the SPFL held their own investigations into recent coronavirus outbreaks that caused Jim Goodwin’s team to call off two games.

The Buddies, who postponed matches against Motherwell and Hamilton last month due to outbreaks of the virus, attended the hearing and defended both their position and their procedures.

They have now been told the outcome of that hearing won’t be announced until the end of November.

A club statement released yesterday afternoon read: “ St Mirren Football Club can confirm that the SPFL’s disciplinary hearing against the club has now concluded.

“The club has defended its position robustly and will be advised of the outcome which is expected at the end of this month.”

The SPFL also have a disciplinary hearing into similar events at Kilmarnock.
