St Mirren not pursuing loan swoop for Hibs midfielder Stevie Mallan

St Mirren are not expected to make a swoop for former star Stevie Mallan in this transfer window.

Reports emerged at the start of the week the Buddies were considering a loan deal for the Hibs midfielder, who has found game time limited at Easter Road this season.

Jack Ross has also brought in midfielders Chris Cadden and Jackson Irvine in this transfer window, fuelling rumours Mallan might return to Paisley where he played nearly 100 games before moving south to Barnsley in 2017.

But Express Sport understands the switch is not one St Mirren are currently pursuing.

One move that has been confirmed this week is St Mirren youth striker Alex McCaw’s loan deal with Annan Athletic.

The 19-year-old forward will link up with Peter Murphy’s League Two side, who currently sit in seventh position, as he looks to gain some senior experience in the second half of the season.

A St Mirren spokesperson said: “Good luck to Alex McCaw as he joins Annan Athletic on loan until the end of the season.”
