St Mirren linked with swoop for Southampton defender Thierry Small with Tony Watt move also agreed

St Mirren are closing in on deadline day reinforcements with the Paisley side reportedly sealing loan deals for Thierry Small and Tony Watt.

With Richard Tait and Jonah Ayunga set for spells on the sidelines, Stephen Robinson has been determined to bring in new players to keep their top six charge on track.

With Ethan Erhahon's £300,000 switch to Lincoln City all but confirmed after he passed his medical this morning, and Dylan Reid expected to join Crystal Palace this evening, the Saints board have now given Robinson the green light to make his move for new signings ahead of the transfer window slamming shut this evening.

The Athletic report that St Mirren have agreed a deal to sign talented young full-back Thierry Small on loan from English Premier League side Southampton.

Tottenham were keen on a permanent deal for the former Everton youth product, but the Saints want to keep him on their books and would prefer to see the England Under-18 international make a temporary move to pick up more experience.

The Buddies also appear to have won the race to sign former Celtic, Hearts and Motherwell striker Tony Watt on loan from Dundee United. Watt is expected to link up with Robinson again in Paisley after being convinced to move away from Tannadice.

Watt has netted four goals in his last 12 appearances for Dundee United, having notched 11 last season during his spells with Motherwell and the Terrors.
