St Mirren legend Dougie Somner helps unveil new home kit inspired by Anglo-Scottish Cup success

St Mirren have looked to the past when designing their new home kit for the upcoming Premiership campaign.

The Buddies have used elements of the club's strips from 1979 to 1981, a hugely successful period which saw the Paisley club compete in Europe for the first time and lift the Anglo-Scottish Cup.

The nostalgic design features a classic v neck, white chevrons on the arms and a gold Macron badge.

And in the release video, former Saints striker and fan favourite Dougie Somner - who scored twice in the Anglo-Scottish Cup final at Love Street when the Buddies beat Bristol City - is on hand alongside current skipper Mark O'Hara to unveil the new strip.

St Mirren Women captain Karen McCabe also features in the launch.

St Mirren chief operating officer Keith Lasley said: "Great attention to detail has been taken to create a home kit that keeps to tradition while also incorporating a fresh look to represent our ambitious future.

"To inspire future success, we have reflected to our past to see how far we’ve come, and we have done it together as a family.

"We hope our fans can see and appreciate the lineage and evolution that has inspired the 2023/24 St Mirren Home Kit and the powerful connection linking past, present and future."
