St Mirren 'launch ambitious bid' to sign Aberdeen defender Declan Gallagher

St Mirren 'launch ambitious bid' to sign Aberdeen defender Declan Gallagher

DECLAN GALLAGHER could be headed for St Mirren this summer, according to a report.

The Buddies are said to have launched an ambitious bid to sign the Aberdeen defender.

The Daily Record say that the Dons have granted Stephen Robinson's men permission to speak to the Scotland internationalist.

The report states that the Paisley side have stretched their budget to the limit in order to offer a two-year deal to the centre-back.

The former Motherwell player has yet to commit to the move, but it's said that Aberdeen are willing to offer a possible pay-off to ensure he's not left out of pocket should a move go through.

Gallagher worked with Robinson for a spell at Fir Park.

He moved to Aberdeen last summer after his contract at Motherwell expired.

However, things haven't gone to plan at Pittodrie, with injuries and illness hampering his time in the north east.

He will face stiff competition for a place in Jim Goodwin's starting XI next term with Anthony Stewart and Liam Scales already signed this summer.

St Mirren have been busy this summer in really strengthening their squad with Trevor Carson, Keanu Baccus, Mark O’Hara, Ryan Strain and Jonah Ayunga all penning deals.
