St Mirren gaffer Jim Goodwin warns Motherwell his side have finally found their shooting boots

St Mirren can match Motherwell’s attacking threat after finally finding their shooting boots.

Saints gaffer Jim Goodwin revealed it was “horrendous” to see his side sitting with just four goals scored for so long this season.

But after hitting six in their last four games, the manager believes they’re now heading in the right direction at the other end of the park.

He said: “A few weeks ago we were sitting on four goals and it was horrendous.

“We’re now getting closer to the teams around us in terms of goals scored.

"We know we’re a difficult team to break down, it’s the ‘goals for’ column we need to do something about.

“We’re looking a real attacking threat at the moment. We’re maybe not scoring three or four goals a game but we’re getting into attacking areas.

“We need the rest of the lads to start chipping in; Kyle Magennis, Tony Andreu, and the boys at the back.

Motherwell are a good side and they’re sitting fourth in the table. We’ve no divine right to think we can beat them.

“But I have belief in the players and I think we can cut out the kind of minor mistakes we’re making.

"The goals we conceded at the weekend were very avoidable.”

After facing the Steelmen tonight, St Mirren face three huge games against fellow current bottom six sides Hamilton, Livingston and St Johnstone.
