St Mirren confirm the departure of Oran Kearney after less than a year in charge

Oran Kearney’s nine-month tenure has come to an end after the manager and St Mirren today agreed to part company.

The manager departs after just nine months in the Saints hotseat – leaving the club hunting their ninth manager in just over five years.

The Northern Irishman’s exit has been inevitable since the breakdown of his relationship with chairman Gordon Scott last week.

But the club have confirmed the departure via a brief statement.

It reads: "The Board can confirm that Oran Kearney has left the Club by mutual consent.

"The Club wish to thank Oran for his time in charge and wish him every success in the future."

Days of speculation surrounding Kearney's future had plunged the club into chaos on the eve of pre-season,

This led to the boss being absent as the players returned to training on Monday morning. Kearney had been told by the club to stay away as talks continued to bring his reign to an end.

The squad was instead put through their paces by coach Allan McManus.

Kearney’s departure come as a blow to the Buddies, with supporters keen to see him build upon steering the side to Premiership safety last season following the playoff victory over Dundee United.

However, League Cup winning skipper Jim Goodwin is already the runaway favourite to land the gig.
