St Mirren confirm Stav Nahmani signing as young Maccabi Haifa striker joins on loan

Stephen Robinson believes new striker Stav Nahmani will bring "raw pace" to the Buddies frontline.

St Mirren have today confirmed the 20-year-old will join on an initial season-long loan from Maccabi Haifa, subject to a work permit being granted.

The Saints have the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the campaign, should the Israel under-21 international impress in Paisley.

Nahmani has made 62 appearances in the top division in Israel, as well as 21 appearances with the Israel national teams at different age groups.

The pacey forward made his senior debut for Maccabi Haifa at just 18 and went on to make an appearance in the UEFA Europa League in 2020.

Saints boss Robinson revealed Nahmani was brought to the club's attention through the same link that brought Australian Ryan Strain to the SMiSA from the same club.

He explained: "Stav came to us through the same contacts that we got Ryan Strain from Maccabi Haifa.

"He’s a young player that’s come through the Israeli age groups.

"He’s got a great work ethic and he gives us real raw pace running in behind.

"We hope he can add goals to our team and pace in the forward areas. He’s a real exciting one that can play in a couple of areas across the forward areas.”

The forward joins up shortly after the club revealed Eamonn Brophy had left St Mirren to join Ross County on a permanent deal.
