St Mirren confirmed Oran Kearney's departure on Wednesday.
Kearney has parted company with the Scottish Premiership club, less than a year after he was appointed as manager.
The former Coleraine boss kept the Buddies in the top flight after a playoff win over Dundee United.
The 40-year-old was commuting to Paisley from his family home in Ballymoney which had reportedly caused tensions with the club.
In a brief statement, St Mirren said: "The Board can confirm that Oran Kearney has left the Club by mutual consent.
"The Club wish to thank Oran for his time in charge and wish him every success in the future."
St Mirren were due to play Coleraine in a pre-season friendly this Saturday but the Scottish club pulled the plug on the fixture yesterday .
They will still fulfil their planned game against South Belfast club Rosario on Friday night.
Former captain Jim Goodwin is favourite to take over at St Mirren, while Kearney is being linked with a return to Coleraine.
