St Mirren chairman John Needham insists he is looking at a solution to home supporters being displaced when the Old Firm come to Paisley.
The Buddies welcome Rangers to the SMiSA Stadium on Sunday, October 24, with the club announcing this morning that the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand and the North stand have both been allocated to the away support.
The club are adamant they understand there is frustration around the use of the Tony Fitzpatrick Stand to house away supporters, especially as fans with season tickets in that stand need to move their seats to either the Main or West Stand.
St Mirren revealed in a press release they are still working on a 'reasonable solution' that Needham hopes will keep Saints fans happy while also ensuring the club don't miss out on vital revenue.
Needham said: “I share the strength of feeling on this issue and have discussed options with my fellow directors which would avoid the need for any of our fans to move from their seats for matches in the future.
"The major hurdle is replacing the income generated which is in the region of £120,000 for the three guaranteed fixtures each season.
"However, my initial thinking has been well received and I am working on refining the proposals before consulting you, the fans, on whether you would support my idea."
Some St Mirren fans were quick to vent their frustration when news around Rangers being given two stands was announced this morning.
Posting on Twitter, Scott Geddes wrote: "Anything for money, don’t care about your own fans at all."
Kenny Wilson added: "Celtic and Rangers have been so accommodating with allowing away fans in right enough."
General sale tickets will go on-sale from Monday, October 18 and will only be available in person at the St Mirren Ticket Office.
