Scott Tanser faces a race in time to be fit for St Mirren’s clash with the Staggies.
The left wing-back hobbled off the Tynecastle pitch on Saturday, leaving the Buddies even shorter at the back given Conor McCarthy’s recent serious ankle injury.
Saints skipper Joe Shaughnessy is suspended for Wednesday night’s Ross County match having been sent off late on against Hearts, leaving boss Jim Goodwin with a selection headache in defence.
The St Mirren manager admits it’s a case of wait and see on a couple of players, including Tanser, but insists he has strong enough squad depth to cover should the former St Johnstone man not make it in time.
Goodwin told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “We’ve got one or two in for fitness tests on Tuesday morning, to see how they’re going to fare for the game on Wednesday evening.
“I thought we coped relatively well with the loss of Conor McCarthy at the weekend against Hearts. Charles Dunne came in and was excellent for large spells of the game.
“That shows the kind of strength in depth we have in the squad. I’m very fortunate to have such good options coming off the bench.
“Joe’s sending off so late in the game was a sore one to take, but at the same time we just have to learn to cope with it.
“I’ve got plenty of options to cope with it if I need to shuffle the pack.”
