St Michael's train station platform closed 'until further notice'

The Liverpool bound platform at St Michael's railway station is currently closed 'until further notice'.

In a tweet issued by Merseyrail the provider wrote: "Due to loose roofing- The Liverpool bound platform at St Michaels is currently CLOSED and trains will not call at this platform until further notice."

It is not known when the station may re-open.

Advice for passengers who are wanting to board at St Michael's station is to take the train to Aigburth and change for services into Liverpool.

Similarly passengers wanting to get off the train at St Michael's are advised to stay on the train to Brunswick and board the Hunts Cross train to St Michaels.

The loose roofing comes the day before Merseyside is set to be battered by heavy rain .

A yellow  weather  warning has been issued by the forecaster with torrential rain expected for the whole of Friday, with a warning in place from 8am to 10pm.

The day is set to be a wash out with spray and flooded roads likely to make journeys longer and the Met Office warned that some homes and businesses could be in danger of flooding.
