St Johnstone use McDiarmid Park pitch to send message of solidarity

St Johnstone have used their playing surface to send out a message of solidarity amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Head groundsman Chris Smith, who joined the club in 2004, wanted to spread positivity and carved out the design at McDiarmid Park on Friday morning.

The large circular badge with the words ‘Camaraderie’, ‘Togetherness’ and ‘Stay Safe’  delighted Perth supporters when the club shared the image online.

A club spokesperson said: “We thought we would try and display a positive message on the pitch to our supporters and the people of Perth during this difficult time.

“We wanted to let them know that we are all in this together and the club is looking forward to welcoming everyone back at such time as it’s safe to do so.”
