St Johnstone 'interested' in Motherwell target

St Johnstone could be about to try and sign Leicester City defender Darragh O'Connor from under the nose of Motherwell, according to reports.

The Scottish Sun claim that Saints boss Callum Davidson is believed to be looking at the 21-year-old, as he contemplates the loss of at least one of Jamie McCart, Jason Kerr and Shaun Rooney from last season's double cup-winning team.

Irish centre-back O'Connor has been training with Motherwell and played two pre-season games with them against Dumbarton and Celtic, as he tries to secure a move.

It is also believed that the defender is being monitored by several English sides as he is a free agent.
