St Johnstone game in doubt as Aberdeen player tests positive for coronavirus

St Johnstone’s Premiership fixture with Aberdeen has been thrown into serious doubt.

It has been revealed that a member of the Dons’ squad tested positive for coronavirus.

Test and protect protocols were to commence, which could see other members of the squad required to self-isolate.

Saints have been preparing for what would be their first home game of the season following the start of the new campaign earlier this month.

But whether this weekend's match will get the green light was expected to be in the hands of the Scottish Government.

Questions were even raised earlier this week if the fixture would go ahead following a rise in coronavirus cases in Aberdeen, linked to a pub.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon moved to tighten restrictions in the city.

Saints started their Premiership campaign last week with a 1-1 draw against Dundee United at Tannadice.
