St Johnstone Euro tie with Galatasaray heading for a sell out

St Johnstone 's Europa League match with Galatasaray on Thursday is heading for a sell out.

Desperate fans have been trying to snap up the goldust briefs since they went on sale this morning.

And the Perthshire Advertiser understands about 90 per cent of tickets have already been sold at around 3pm on Tuesday.

Season ticket holders have been able to buy up to 10 seats for the tie, which is finely poised at 1-1 after the first leg.

But those without season tickets have had to phone the ticket office, with some desperately trying for hours as they look to be there in person for one of the biggest matches in the club's history.

Fans are also keen to get back to the ground with a full capacity permitted for the first time in 17 months.

Meanwhile, Police Scotland say they have a plan in place amid concerns Galatasaray fans may try and gain entry to McDiarmid Park.

The Turkish giants have a huge following in the UK, with some suggesting on Twitter they will make the journey to Perth.

A spokesperson for the national force told the Perthshire Advertiser : "We are aware of the significance of Thursday’s fixture and are working closely with St Johnstone ahead of the match.

“Police Scotland will have an appropriate policing plan in place to maintain public safety and minimise disruption to the community."
