St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson will ensure not to burn out his international stars.
Ali McCann was recently away with Northern Ireland’s senior squad while Danny McNamara was on his travels with Republic of Ireland under-21s.
Both players have already participated in a considerable amount of Premiership minutes this season.
And Davidson said: “When you go away on an international break it’s difficult when you come back.
“They were away a long time and it’s a lot to take in when it’s your first full squad.
“Both Ali and Danny are young lads. They’ve played every game for us and haven’t had a break.
“We’ll make sure Ali stays fresh, doesn’t burn out and is playing at a high level every week.”
Davidson has had time to reflect on the weekend’s 5-3 win over Hamilton and revealed he felt Murray Davidson was his top performer.
“I thought Murray was outstanding,” the Perth boss said.
“I know that the forward players got the headlines and deservedly so for scoring five goals, but Murray was my man of the match on Saturday.
“He’s built his fitness and strength back up. He won his battles in midfield, did the ugly things and allowed others to play football.
“He sacrificed his game a bit to sit in and make sure we were secure. He can do both sides of the game. In both boxes he’s tremendous.
“We’re starting to look dangerous when balls are going into the opposition box because Murray is such an asset.
“He’s one of a rare breed of players who really attacks the ball and puts pressure on defenders.
“We’re getting chances off the back of that.”
