St John’s Primary pupils take part in lockdown art comp honouring key workers

Artistic youngsters from St John’s Primary School in Hamilton were keen to enter a fun lockdown competition organised by the town’s George Taylor and Sons.

The contest was to create a picture to say thank you to the county’s  key workers.

Children were very excited to be able to use any medium and were exceptionally creative.

They designed and delivered their drawings to George Taylor and Son’s special post box on the factory gate of the Kemp Street premises, adjacent to their school.

The pictures were then displayed across the fencing and gates around George Taylor and Son for the community to see.

Staff at George Taylor and Sons then picked a worthy winner, with the first prize of a £20 amazon voucher going to  Chloe McDonald, of primary four.

Alison Hope, head teacher at the school, said: “Chloe was thrilled to get the news and chose to spend her voucher on Sylvanian Family toys.

“A close runner-up was Rosie Thomson, of primary six, who won a £10 voucher.

“Congratulations to them both and well done to all involved.”
