St Helens Show 'meant so much to so many people'

Residents across St Helens have shared their fond memories of the "fabulous" annual show that meant "so much to so many people" across the borough.

Last week, the ECHO shared fascinating photographs which offered a glimpse into what the 'largest free show' in Europe was once like on Merseyside.

Every year, generation after generation would head to Sherdley Park, the largest park in St Helens, to attend the St Helens Show, as well as famous faces such as Cilla Black and Geoffrey Hughes.

The popular event began in 1968 and continued for decades, also briefly being reinvented in the early 2000s.

Here, people across St Helens share their childhood memories of the St Helens Show and what they loved most about it.
