A two-week Ofsted inspection of children’s services in St Helens has concluded.
Ofsted inspectors have been on-site to carry out a full review of all aspects of children’s social care services in the borough.
It is understood inspectors have provided feedback to council chiefs on the full inspection following its conclusion.
Ofsted will publish its findings on Monday, November 4.
A St Helens Council spokesman said: “We can confirm that the Ofsted inspection on Children’s social care services in St Helens has now concluded.
“Ofsted will publish its full findings on its website on Monday, November 4.”
Last year's inspection
The inspection comes more than a year after Ofsted delivered a damning verdict of children’s services in St Helens following a focused inspection.
Subsequently, the watchdog issued three out of a possible four priority actions and ordered a comprehensive action plan be developed and implemented.
A Children’s Improvement Board (CIB) with an independent chairman was established to oversee and scrutinise the adoption of the action plan.
Last month professor Sarah O’Brien, the council’s strategic director for people’s services, assured the children and young people’s services overview and scrutiny panel that there has been improvements over the last 12 months.
However, prof O’Brien, who is also the chief accountable officer for St Helens CCG, said there is still much more work to do.
She also revealed the Local Government Association is expected to carry out a children’s peer review in the New Year.
