St George’s Road closed off as ‘disturbance’ leaves man seriously injured

St George’s Road has been closed off in both directions while Police Scotland attend an ongoing incident in which one man has been hurt.

The incident happened around 3.35pm today (Sunday) and the man has been taken to hospital with 'serious injuries', officers confirmed.

Two young men have been arrested in connection with the disturbance.

The road closure is still in place, diverting traffic in both directions, and affects the stretch between Maryhill Road and St George’s Place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called to a report of a disturbance on St George's Road, Glasgow, around 3.35pm on Sunday, 5 July.

“A man has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries. Two men, aged 17 and 18, have been arrested in connection.

“The road has been closed while enquiries are carried out."

The incident follows another disturbance, also in north Glasgow, earlier this morning.

Two 18-year-olds and a 21-year-old were taken to the Royal Infirmary with serious injuries as a result of an incident at house on Tresta Road, in the Cadder area.

Four men, two aged 19, a 20 and a 21-year-old, were all arrested when police attended at 1.05am.

UPDATE: St George's Road has now reopened to traffic following the police incident this afternoon.
