A soldier has died following an incident at an Army barracks in Oxfordshire.

The emergency services were called to St David's Barracks in Bicester, at around midday on Friday, after a man believed to be in his twenties was injured, according to Thames Valley Police.

The serviceman was found to be in a critical condition.

Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he died at the scene.

Police do not believe that the death is suspicious or involves a third party.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the death and has launched an investigation, a spokesman said.
