Students at a South Gloucestershire school have been told to self isolate after a student contracted coronavirus.
A year nine student at St Bernard Lovell Academy in Oldland Common has tested positive for the virus.
Leaders at the school, which is part of the Wellsway Multi Academy Trust, have written to parents of students in the year nine bubble who may have been in close contact with the student, asking their children to self-isolate.
It is understood the pupil was last in school on October 19.
Pupils identified by the school as being close contacts of the child have been asked to self-isolate until November 3.
In their letter to parents - sent out on Friday, October 23 - school chief executive Andrea Aldridge and school principal Dean Anderson said: “We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within our Year 9 bubble at SBL Academy.
“Using isolation advice in line with national guidance, we have identified your child as a close contact of the positive case.

“Therefore, we are asking your child and others who may have had had close contact with the student who has tested positive to now stay at home and self-isolate until 3 November 2020, 14 days from the day the positive case last attended school."
At the current time, students not in the year nine bubble will not need to self isolate.
The school is currently closed for the half term holidays.
