Brian Brown has said he couldn’t have asked for any more from his side, as they lost their final game of 2021 to St Anthony’s.
Martin Mullaney got the only goal of the game in Govan, but Brown praised his injury and illness hit side - who battled through the pain barrier.
He said: “Last week was a very tough week for everyone at the club.
“We had a few cases of Covid-19, a few of the boys were not well. We’re carrying quite a few injuries.

“We scraped in a couple of guys who don’t play for the club as trialists. We were down to the bare bones.
“The first-half was probably quite even but after about an hour you could see the injuries and illnesses start to show and we were overrun by the Ants.
“It’s been the story of our season.
“At the end of the game I thanked the boys for their efforts up until now. It’s not been easy.
“There were a load of them who pulled themselves off their sickbeds and played through injury to make sure we could field a team. I really appreciated the boys doing that.
“It might not have happened over the last couple of seasons but I couldn’t ask much more from the guys I have there.”

And Brown admits the Christmas break is coming at the ideal time for his side.
He added: “Martin Connolly’s hamstring went, Danny Paterson’s ankle is in a bad state. Lewis King and Adam Gibbons had the flu all week, so they weren’t feeling great on Saturday on top of everything else.
“It was just a bit messy.
“I’m disappointed we couldn’t get the game put off.
“But it’s just one of those things.”
