St Andrews and South Bishopston could be getting RPZ after two years of campaigning

Residents in North Bristol, who have campaigned for an RPZ for two years, are finally getting a consultation in to parking and road safety issues.

Residents and non-residents in St Andrews and South Bishopston will have the opportunity to voice their traffic and parking concerns on Bristol City Council’s website, using a unique code sent via a postcard.

Once the information is collated, the council are able to analyse views and response rates on a street-by-street basis to see how substantial the need is for a new Residential Parking Scheme (RPS) or other alternatives - including more double-yellow lines around junctions.

A Bristol City Council spokesperson said: “We intend to send a postcard to all addresses (residential and non-residential) in the survey area.

“This will look at parking issues and solutions, which could include a resident parking scheme if overwhelming local support can be demonstrated.”

This is 'great news' says the Bishopston and St. Andrews Traffic and Parking Group (BOSA) after more than two years lobbying with local councillors.

A BOSA spokesperson said: "We  are pleased and grateful to the councillors and officers involved for this very welcome approach."

Parking surveys will be delivered to residents in early November and any further decision will be made once the views of residents have been collected and reviewed.
