St Andrew's Hospice are calling for walkers to take part in Midnight Walk

Keen walkers and fundraisers are being encouraged to sign up for the St Andrew’s Hospice Midnight Walk.

The event, in its 11th year, will take place on Saturday, June 15.

Last year, 750 people completed the route which starts at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility and continues through Carfin, New Stevenston, Holytown, Mossend and Motherwell.

Radio Clyde DJ Gina McKie and Nicola McAleenan from Clubbercise Motherwell will get the party started before participants set off on one of three routes – 8, 10 or 13 miles.

John Brady, head of fundraising at the hospice, said: “We know that many people go the extra mile to raise money for St Andrew’s Hospice.

“The funds generated from this event are vital in enabling us to provide a high standard of specialist palliative care to the people of Lanarkshire.”

The hospice provides specialist palliative care to people living with life-limiting illnesses.

It also offers outpatient and wellbeing services to people with advanced, progressive life-limiting illnesses.

Although it receives a contribution towards its running costs from NHS Lanarkshire, it still needs to raise £4.6 million through public donations every year.
