St Albert's Primary in Pollokshields issues letter asking parents to wear masks following coronavirus case

St Albert's Primary School in Pollokshields has issued a letter to parents and carers of children attending the school to wear masks after a confirmed coronavirus case was identified.

The school has also confirmed that, following contact tracing, some children and staff are now self-isolating at home as a precaution.

The letter also asks parents and carers to keep socially distant from one another when arriving at the school to drop off or pick up their kids to inhibit any possible further spread of the virus.

The school is one of seven across the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area where contact tracing is taking place, the NHS confirmed yesterday evening.

The Test and Protect team is also carrying out Covid-19 contact tracing around the following schools in Glasgow and Renfrewshire: Wallace Primary, Renfrewshire; Todholm Primary, Renfrewshire; Carntyne Primary, Glasgow; St James Primary, Renfrewshire; Kelvinside Academy and Edinbarnet Primary School, West Dunbartonshire.

The NHS said "robust control measures" are in place within each of the schools, and there is currently no evidence of transmission within the schools themselves.

Apart from those who are identified as close contacts, all other pupils and staff can continue to attend as normal.
