SSPCA launch appeal for overlooked python

The Scottish SPCA is looking for a loving home for Winnie, an overlooked carpet python who has sadly been in their care for over two years after being found in an abandoned .

While other reptile residents of the charity’s Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Hamilton have come and gone, poor Winnie is still struggling to find her forever home.

Gillian Boyle, centre manager, said, “At almost seven feet, we knew Winnie might be tricky to rehome but we never thought she’d be with us for this long.

“Winnie is looking for an experienced large snake owner who will be able to continue with her daily handling and needs.

“Although we refer to her as female, she has not been probed so could be male or female.

“Winnie is a bit of a character, who often has the staff in ‘hiss-terics’ and loves to get out of her vivarium for a ‘ssslither’ and ‘ssstretch’

“More often than not you will find her curled up under a radiator once she has finished exploring.

“Due to her size Winnie’s new owner will need to ensure they have adequate space for a very large vivarium.

“We think that Winnie would make an exciting addition for a large snake enthusiast so please get in touch if your reptile knowledge is ‘off the scale’ and you can give her a loving new home.”

If you think you could offer Winnie a home, please apply via the Scottish SPCA website: https://www.scottishspca.org/rehome-a-pet/4181-winnie
