SSPCA dog appeal: Enrichment toys needed for homeless pooches struggling to adapt to kennel life

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for enrichment toys for dogs in its Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity is currently caring for over 100 dogs. Many of these dogs are not able to be rehomed as they are involved in court cases or are receiving veterinary treatment or rehabilitation.

Centre manager Anna O’Donnell said: “Many dogs don’t adapt well to a kennel environment so providing them with enrichment toys can really help to stimulate them mentally and keep their mind active.

“We are in need of Kong toys which are great as they provide enrichment and a treat for the dogs in our care.

“As incredible as our team is, there is no substitute for a secure and loving home. Any form of enrichment that is going to help these dogs to adapt to a home environment, such as Kongs, will have a positive effect.

“A lot of the dogs we are caring for will be with us for a while so we are asking the public to donate Kongs to keep our dogs entertained and happy before they are ready to find their forever homes.”

Kongs can be donated via the centre’s Amazon wishlist here or sent from another online retailer that can deliver. Items can also be left in the donation bins outside the centre at 125 Kinnell Pl, Glasgow G52 3RY.
