Cat dumped in rucksack on footpath in East Kilbride as SSPCA appeals for information

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a black, male cat was found abandoned in a rucksack in East Kilbride.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted to the incident after a member of the public found the cat in the Murray area on August 9.

Scottish SPCA inspector, Dawn Murrie, said: “The cat is a black, male, domestic short-haired type.

“He was found on the footpath between Galt Place and Murrayhill inside a black Reebok rucksack.

“The member of the public who found him took him home to keep him safe while they waited for our help.

“Unfortunately, he is not microchipped and was not wearing a collar when he was found.

“He appears to be healthy and has been very friendly and affectionate with our staff.

“If anyone recognises this cat we would ask that they contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
