SSC CGL 2026 notification out: Check vacancy details, PDF download, application fee, last date, and how to apply for over 12,000 jobs in ministries, departments, and govt offices

The Staff Selection Commission has opened registrations for the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026, kicking off one of the country’s biggest government recruitment drives with around 12,256 vacancies across ministries, departments and central government offices. Along with the notification, SSC has released the full exam schedule, application process, fee details and correction window for candidates applying for Group B and Group C posts.

Candidates can now apply online through the official SSC portal. The registration process began on May 21, 2026, and will remain open till June 22, 2026.

SSC CGL 2026 vacancy details

SSC has announced nearly 12,256 tentative vacancies under the SSC CGL 2026 recruitment cycle. The openings are for several central government posts in ministries, attached offices and departments across India.

The examination is conducted every year for recruitment to posts such as:

  • Assistant Section Officer
  • Inspector
  • Auditor
  • Accountant
  • Junior Statistical Officer
  • Tax Assistant
  • Other Group B and Group C posts

SSC said detailed category-wise and post-wise vacancies will be released separately on the official website.

SSC CGL 2026 application fee

Candidates applying under the general category will have to pay an application fee of Rs 100.

However, women candidates and applicants belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-servicemen categories eligible for reservation are exempted from paying the examination fee, according to SSC guidelines. The fee can be paid online till June 23, 2026.

How to apply for SSC CGL 2026

Candidates can complete the application process online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official SSC website
  2. Open the SSC CGL 2026 application link on the homepage
  3. Complete One-Time Registration if not already registered
  4. Fill in personal, academic and communication details
  5. Upload photograph and signature
  6. Pay the application fee online
  7. Submit the form and download the confirmation page

Applicants have also been given a correction window from June 29 to July 1, 2026, to edit mistakes in submitted forms.

Tier-I and Tier-II exam schedule announced

SSC will conduct the Tier-I examination in computer-based mode between August and September 2026. Candidates who clear the first stage will appear for the Tier-II examination scheduled for December 2026.

The Commission has advised candidates to carefully check eligibility conditions, educational qualifications and age criteria mentioned in the notification before filling out the application form.

With more than 12,000 vacancies on offer, the SSC CGL 2026 recruitment cycle is expected to see massive participation from graduates looking for central government jobs this year.
