SS Karl Joseph wants to be a Raider for life

After the Raiders’ selection of Johnathan Abram in the draft, everyone assumed Karl Joseph was the odd man out. Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden gave credence to these assumptions by not extending his fifth-year option, forcing him to be a free agent at the end of the year.

Reports came out during OTAs that Abram and Joseph were sharing the field on the first-team defense. With Paul Guenther displaying confidence in Joseph going forward, he offered this quote from his press conference Tuesday.

It’s great that Joseph wants to be a Raider for life, especially being one strongest players on a bad defense. If he plays even better this year, the Raiders always have the option to either sign him to an extension or use the franchise tag to keep him for 2020.
