The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) on Saturday resumed 14 train services on the northern line after a flood-damaged track was repaired.
SRT governor Nirut Maneephan said floods that had ravaged many provinces also inundated rail tracks in the northern line between Ban Mo and Nong Don stations in Saraburi province, causing damage to the tracks. The SRT had suspended services and restricted routes on the northern line on Oct 2.
As public works technicians have already repaired the damaged tracks and signal systems, 14 trains could resume services as normal, he said.
Starting from today, the 14 round-trip services on the northern line have resumed. They are:
- Special express trains Nos 9/10 (Bangkok-Chiang Mai-Bangkok);
- Special express trains Nos 7/8 (Bangkok-Chiang Mai-Bangkok);
- Rapid trains Nos 109/102 (Bangkok-Chiang Mai-Bangkok);
- Ordinary trains Nos 201/202 (Bangkok-Phitsanulok-Bangkok);
- Ordinary trains Nos 211/212 (Bangkok-Taphanhin-Bangkok);
- Urban trains Nos 301/302 (Bangkok-Lop Buri-Bangkok);
- Urban trains Nos 317/318 (Bangkok-Lop Buri-Bangkok).
Mr Nirut said the SRT has assigned all units to work out a flood prevention plan and closely follow up the flooding situation around the clock.
