World champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will join Bodyslam pop-rock band lead singer Artiwara "Toon" Kongmalai in his charity run tomorrow.
The WBC super flyweight title-holder Srisaket, along with boxers from Nokornloung Promotion, will meet up with the rock star at his pit stop at The Sense Pin Klao on Arun Amarin Road and will begin the run at 8am.
Srisaket will run with the singer for about 12km along Boromratchonnanee Road and stop at the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority.
According to his manager Surachart Pisitwutthinan, Srisaket has been an admirer of the singer's charitable effort. The marathon run, from Yala in the deep South to Chiang Rai, is aimed at raising 700 million baht for 11 state-run hospitals across the country.
He added Srisaket is quite charitable himself and will also donate to the project.
Srisaket is not the first superstar athlete to join Artiwara's charity run. Muay Thai fighter Buakaw Banchamek has also been a part of the charity run.
The 30-year-old Srisaket (44-4-1, 40KOs) is currently training for his second title defence against mandatory challenger Juan Francisco Estrada (36-2, 25 KOs) of Mexico next year.
The fight is scheduled to take place at The Forum in Los Angeles on Feb 24.
"Srisaket has been training for about a month now," said Suchart. "At the moment it's all about getting Srisaket into shape for the next training phase. The tough regime will begin later this month. Then we will get Srisaket a sparring partner whose style is similar to Estrada."
Srisaket knocked out Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez of Nicaragua in the fourth round to retain his title in his second straight win over the former champion in California in September.
The stunning victory silenced critics who had claimed Srisaket's majority decision win in the first fight six months earlier in New York was a fluke.
