HUBBALLI: We will vandalise the statue of Tipu Sultan, if it’s established anywhere in Karnataka, warned Sriram Sene mentor Pramod Muthalik on Friday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Kanakadasa Jayanti, organized at Idgah Maidan in Hubballi on Friday, Muthalik said that Congress MLA Tanvir Sait has said of erecting a 100 feet statue of Tipu in Mysuru. "If he does it, we will demolish on the lines of Babri Masjid. Tipu has been a black spot in Karnataka’s history. He insulted Mysuru kings. If Sait wants a statue of any Muslim great soul, let him do with statues of APJ Abdul Kalam, Santha Shishunal Sharief", he suggested.
Meanwhile, he also cleaned the Idgah Maidan, where Tipu Jayanti was celebrated on Thursday, with cow urine. He said the Maidan had become "impure" after celebration of Tipu Jayanti on Thursday and so he cleansed it.
He also demanded action against HDMC Mayor Iresh Anchatageri for celebrating Tipu Jayanti in HDMC premises.
