The Government has upgraded its travel advice for Sri Lanka urging tourists and business people against all but essential trips to the island.
The Foreign Office announced the move “in light of the ongoing security operation and heightened risk of terrorism.”
It follows the Easter Sunday attack in which bombs killed 359 people - including eight Britons - and injured more than 500.
The Asian country currently has 8,000 British visitors and 10,000 British residents.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: “Following the horrific attacks on Easter Sunday, and the ongoing Sri Lankan security operation, I have received updated advice from the Foreign Office and decided to update the travel advice to British nationals to Sri Lanka to advise against all but essential travel.”
It comes after the US Embassy in Columbo warned that more attacks on places of worship may be coming.
In a tweet they said: "Sri Lankan authorities are reporting that additional attacks may occur targeting places of worship.
"Avoid these areas over the weekend, starting tomorrow, April 26th through Sunday, April 28th. Continue to remain vigilant and avoid large crowds"

The Mirror has reported there are currently four hour queues at the airport to get home and many of the return flights are currently full.
The government has said it is speaking to to the travel and insurance industries.
