Sri Lanka defence journalist shot dead

A journalist who reported on defence matters and worked as a Sri Lanka government press advisor has been shot dead. The bullet-riddled body of Lakmal Sampath, who was defence correspondent for a Sinhala-language newspaper, was found on Sunday at Dehiwala, eight kilometres south of Colombo. Police are investigating whether he had previous threats due to his work as a journalist, or as a government official. (Via Newswatch India)
