NEW DELHI: With Pat Cummins, the Australian national team captain, at the helm, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are poised to launch a formidable campaign in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In a bold move, SRH splurged a record sum to secure the services of the esteemed pacer and leader. Cummins, who led the Australian side to victory in the ODI World Cup held in India last year, brings both skill and leadership to the SRH squad. The team is determined to reverse their fortunes and replicate their IPL title win from 2016 under his captaincy.
SRH commenced their IPL 2024 journey against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Eden Gardens. Despite a valiant effort, they narrowly fell short by four runs in a last-over thriller, signaling a promising start to their campaign.
As per the initial IPL schedule, which was adjusted due to the Lok Sabha elections in India, SRH are slated to play four games, including two home fixtures and two away matches. These early encounters will provide crucial opportunities for the team to establish momentum and set the tone for the remainder of the season.
