Squeaky toy-loving stray hoping to find home after almost 18 months in rescue

Four-year-old Freddie was found wandering the streets during the pandemic, and 18 months on, he’s still homeless. Now the playful pooch is hoping he can find a new home where he can play with his favourite squeaky ball.

The Shar Pei cross Staffordshire bull terrier is a ‘real sweetheart’, and Dogs Trust Manchester are appealing for potential adopters to come and meet him.

Freddie arrived at the rescue centre in February 2021, and while little is known about his history, staff say he’s stolen their hearts during his time as a resident..

The little dog quickly befriended volunteers at the Dogs Trust centre, and is said to have a ‘lovable personality’. The charity added: “He adores spending his time playing with a squeaky ball or rolling around on his back! He is a fun character to be around and will never fail to bring a smile to his family's faces.”

The four-year-old also likes splashing around in water or snuggling up to his favourite people and leaning in for a fuss. He’s said to love learning new things, and being a foodie means he responds really well to training, never turning down a tasty treat.

Dawn Bishop, Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester, said: “Freddie brings so much joy to whomever he is around. He would benefit from an adult only home, where he is the only pet, and he can be the main focus of his family. He would prefer a home without neighbouring dogs but would like his family to continue his doggy socialisation with fellow calm and friendly dogs, when out and about on walks.

“We really hope we can find a home as loving as Freddie is, as he deserves his own happy ending.”
