March 03--The Squared Circle has been listed for sale less than a month after owner and wrestler Lisa Marie Varon announced on Twitter that she was moving to California and would no longer run the Lincoln Park area restaurant. Varon opened the wrestling-themed eatery with husband Lee Varon in 2013 and was a fixture there up until the last few months.
The asking price for the 3,125 square foot restaurant is $875,000, according to a posting on jamesoncommercial.com.
"After word reached the Internet that Lisa was taking a reduced role, we received inquiries from parties from all over the world interested in purchasing the business," said Lee Varon by email Monday. "We retained a commercial real estate agent to manage those calls, should an exceptional offer come in. ... We believe the likely outcome is that Lisa will be the owner of The Squared Circle for many years to come. Meanwhile, it's business as usual."
He added that there are even plans to open another restaurant.
"We are also close to finalizing a deal for our next location in a neighboring major metropolitan city," he said.
The Squared Circle continues to draw past and present wrestlers (Jake "The Snake" Roberts was there in January, Ron Simmons was there in February) despite Lisa Marie Varon's absence and is preparing for its biggest day of the year: Wrestlemania. Lee Varon said a former WWE Superstar is scheduled to host the restaurant's watch party March 29.
