Square-parent Block will join the S&P 500 index before the open on Wednesday, July 23, with the digital payments giant replacing Hess in the benchmark index. Dow Jones and S&P 500 giant Chevron closed its acquisition of Hess on Friday. Block stock jumped late Friday on the news.
S&P Dow Jones Indices passed up Robinhood yet again. as well as other possible entrants such as AppLovin, Carvana, Interactive Brokers and Vertiv.
Robinhood stock and these other possible entrants were snubbed earlier in the week, as Trade Desk replaced Ansys, acquired by Synopsys.
Robinhood also was snubbed during the quarterly index rebalancing last month, with no changes made to the S&P 500 index for the first time since March 2022.
Block Stock
Block stock jumped 10% late Friday. XYZ shot up 11.8% for the week as of Friday's close, retaking the 200-day line on Friday.
Robinhood Stock And More
Robinhood stock edged lower after the close. HOOD stock soared 11.6% for the week, hitting a record high. Shares are up 194.5% so far in 2025.
AppLovin stock sank 1% in extended action. Shares jumped 8.8% for the week% on Monday, back above its 50-day moving average.
Carvana stock was little changed overnight. CVNA was up 1.1% for the week, forging a three-weeks-tight pattern at record high.
Interactive Brokers stock declined more than 1% late Friday. Shares jumped 9.3% for the week to a new high, mostly on Friday following Interactive Brokers earnings.
Vertiv stock was little changed after hours. Shares rose 4.7% for the week but closing below a buy point cleared intraday Thursday.
