Square Enix Releases 'Chrono Trigger' 31st Anniversary Keychains For Gacha Fans, But There's a Catch

"Chrono Trigger" is marking its 31st anniversary with new merchandise from Square Enix. To date, it's one of the most iconic role-playing games ever released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. First launched in 1995, the sci-fi time-travel RPG remains widely regarded for its story, memorable characters, and timeless gameplay.

Over the decades, "Chrono Trigger" has reached multiple platforms, including the PlayStation, Nintendo DS, PC, mobile devices, and the Wii Virtual Console. These re-releases have helped introduce the classic to new generations while preserving its original design and charm.

Square Enix Launches 'One Mark Collection' Keychains

To commemorate the milestone, Square Enix is introducing the "One Mark Collection," a new set of collectible keychains inspired by the game's iconic characters.

According to Siliconera, the lineup features detailed designs of Crono, Marle, Lucca, Frog, Robo, Ayla, and Magus. Each character comes in two variations, an idle pose and an attack stance, bringing the total to 14 confirmed designs. Square Enix has also teased a mystery 15th item, though details remain undisclosed.

What's the Catch Behind This?

GameRant reports that the collectibles will be available through Japanese gacha machines starting March 27, with each pull priced at 500 yen. Buyers will receive either a rubber strap or a metal clip version at random, perfect for collectors.

At present, the "Chrono Trigger" anniversary merchandise is confirmed only for release in Japan, with no international availability announced. Because the items are distributed through gacha systems, fans may need multiple attempts to complete the full set.

This limited availability is expected to increase demand among collectors, but it also makes completing the full lineup both challenging and potentially costly.

Timeless RPG Still in Demand

More than 30 years after its original release, "Chrono Trigger" continues to maintain a strong fan base. The franchise's enduring popularity has kept discussions alive around a possible remake or sequel, though no official announcement has been made.
